Normally a half day or one day event associated with pianocircus performances. Our studio is fully portable and travels with us. These events can be arranged as part of a festival or in collaboration with other schools and colleges in your area prior to a pianocircus performance. They are designed as an introduction to the group's music and have proved popular with students of all ages - from 4 years upwards! We work with all age-groups and with special needs students. No previous musical or technology experience is necessary, and mixed ability groups are welcome.
past concert workshops
pianocircus' British Council tour of Indonesia included four workshops for university students. The final workshop with Eksotika Karmawibhangga Indonesia was an exhilarating experience! The performers of this truly extraordinary group exuded confidence and a contagious enthusiasm. We began the workshop away from the pianos exploring some warm-up and rehearsal techniques including an African gumboot dance plus rhythmic exercises based on Reich's Six Pianos which were subsequently taken to the keyboards. Other compositions were similarly explored and the session concluded with an uproarious improvisation session led by two members of pianocircus. This was by common consensus the most enjoyable workshop ever taken by the group and as such will be remembered as one of the highlights of the tour.
